Obituary of Bohdan Kodiak

Bohdan Kodiak, age 75, beloved husband of Wendy Lambert of Milford, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Salzburg, Austria, on February 23, 1947, Bohdan was the son of the late Bohdan Hlibchuk and Jaroslava Chmelnytska Hlibchuk and was a resident of Trumbull for 27 years before moving to Milford.

Bohdan spent his early childhood years in São Paulo, Brazil. When the family emigrated to the United States they settled in Chicago where he attended Lane Tech High School. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois and then went on to the University of Wisconsin – Madison to receive a Masters and PhD. He chose a career in teaching and taught at Davidson College in North Carolina and then at King School in Stamford. Fluent in five languages, he dedicated 30 years as a Spanish teacher at Greenwich High School before his retirement in 2015. Bohdan loved spending time with his family, listening to music, tending to his many plants, cooking, and watching classic Westerns and film noir. He was warm and kind, and always had a pun ready.

In addition to his beloved wife, Wendy, of 38 years he leaves his two loving daughters, Natasha Kodiak of Stamford and Lauren Kodiak and her husband, Andrew Sottile, of West Hartford; a sister, Marya Globig, and her husband, John, of Newberg, Oregon; and his cherished grandson, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends may greet the family at a Memorial Celebration that will take place on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
