Obituary of Patricia A. Rood
Patricia A. Faiella Rood, a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 8, 2024, with her loving family by her side. Born on June 5, 1945, and raised in Bridgeport, Pat was the youngest of six children born to the late Peter and Edith (DiRenzo) Faiella.
Upon graduating from Central High School in 1963, Pat was a beautician until becoming a wife and mother. She then went on to work for Bishop Manufacturing in 1975 and then Avco Lycoming/Textron, where she was a purchasing clerk and later an executive secretary to the VP. Upon retirement, Pat entered the workforce again at Bridgeport Hospital Cancer Registry.
Pat was a beacon of light to her family. Every year, she hosted many family parties, her favorite being Christmas Eve. She loved thrift shopping, trying her luck at the casino, and traveling extensively with her sisters and their spouses. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she dedicated much of her life to.
Patricia's strong character and inner strength were witnessed throughout her long illness, but she bravely fought her battle while holding on to her deep faith. Her smile and positive attitude inspired all. Pat will be greatly missed by the many people who loved her.
In addition to her loving husband Kenneth Rood, survivors include two beloved children, Cheryl Halchak and her husband Daniel, Jeffrey Porto, and his wife Lisa, two sisters, Lorraine Faiella and Eleanor Scanzillo, three precious grandchildren, Emily Dziloski and her husband Benny, Katherine Rose and her husband Nathaniel, and Daniel Halchak; four cherished great-grandchildren, Aliyah, Sianna, Asher and Oliver and a stepdaughter Kimberly Peters, many loving nieces and nephews, and special cousins Marianne Pizone and Valerie Morin. She was predeceased by brothers Albert, Louis, and Lawrence Faiella, and her first husband, Lorenzo Corleone.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. directly in Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford. The interment will be private.
