Obituary of Marie Louise McNellis

Marie Gulas McNellis, age 86, of Waterbury and formerly of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Francis H. McNellis, Sr., passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2024 with her loving family by her side. Born in Bridgeport on March 24, 1938 she was the daughter of the late Michael and Louise Caiola Gulas. A graduate of Warren Harding High School, Marie was a bookkeeper for the City of Bridgeport for over 30 years before her retirement.

Marie was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who always put the needs of her family before her own. She treasured time with her children and grandchildren, including those whom she took under her wings along the way. Marie, was always very involved in the activities of her children and family and held many titles over the years, such as a den mother for cub scouts, and score keeper for duckpin bowling for the Kennedy center every weekend. She was kind, compassionate and wise beyond her years, and her doors were always open even if just for some food, coffee and conversation. The unconditional love she gave and the values she taught will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include three loving children, Darlene McNellis, Francis H. McNellis Jr., and his wife Diana and Michele Revere and her husband Ron, six cherished grandchildren, Francis H. McNellis III (Kristen), Joseph McNellis, Leah McNellis, Dominic Berarducci (Jessica), Marie Michalek (Bruce), and Anthony Berarducci, seven great grandchildren, Mason, Michael, Nico, Mila, and Anthony, Joseph and Luca. She also leaves to cherish her memory an aunt, Lucy Yanosy, brothers, Thomas Gulas (Becky) and Michael Gulas, a sister-in-law, Rose Gulas, as well as many special cousins and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Mickey Gulas and a nephew Brian Gulas.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
