Obituary of John S. Whitmeyer
John S. Whitmeyer, age 59, of Bethel, passed away peacefully on "the 21st night of September," 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was pre deceased by his beloved wife Erin (Loughrey) Whitmeyer. John was born in Plainfield, NJ, on July 10, 1965, spent his formative years in New Fairfield, CT, and was a longtime resident of Hilltop Drive in Trumbull before moving to Bethel.
John's family is comforted in knowing that he crossed over with warm invitations from some of his most cherished loved ones — his late father John H. Whitmeyer, as well as his late wife Erin Whitmeyer.
John was known for his caring nature, as well as his ability to make others feel seen, understood, and valued. Even on his most difficult days, John never failed to make his children and loved ones laugh. In the countless moments that required seriousness, John insisted there be smiles and lightheartedness. His family will always remember him this way.
He dedicated 10 years of his suffering to writing his story, and so proudly published his memoir "Feel Through Me" in 2019.
Survivors include his three cherished children, Brittany Jean Whitmeyer, Kylie Erin Whitmeyer and John Thomas Whitmeyer, his loving partner, Jessica Sochor and four sisters, Susan, Kathleen, Laura, and Cristen as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends can greet the family at a memorial gathering that will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
