Obituary of Ophelia M. Vinhais
Ophelia Nunes Vinhais, age 73, of Trumbull, beloved wife of Joseph Vinhais, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2024 with her loving family by her side. Born on February 21, 1951 in Oeiras, Lisbon, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Quintino and Laura Da Silva Nunes.
Ophelia possessed so many wonderful and admirable qualities, including her humor, kindness, strength, and unwavering support. She touched so many hearts with her love, generosity, and creativity.
She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, who cared deeply for her family and always put their needs before her own. The unconditional love she gave will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed.
In addition to her beloved husband of 52 years, Joseph, survivors include her two loving children, a daughter, Natalie Vinhais Luysterborghs and her husband Paul, a son, Robert Vinhais and his partner Lucy, three cherished and adored grandchildren, Lianna, Callum and Miles, a brother, Philip Nunes, as well as several nieces, nephews and family in Canada and Portugal. She was predeceased by a sister, Beatrice Cruz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 465 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
