Obituary of Michael L. Macari
Michael Liberato Macari, age 72, of Trumbull, CT, passed away peacefully on May 30th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born on August 15, 1951, in Yonkers, NY to the late Rose and Michael Macari.
Mike was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, son, uncle, Godfather, and engineer. He was known in life for his unwavering generosity, always the first to give of himself. Whether it was fixing appliances, organizing charitable events, driving others, renovating kitchens or basements, or mentoring those eager to learn, Mike's dedication to helping others knew no bounds.
His greatest joy was spending quality time with family, especially his children and grandchildren, engaging in activities ranging from gardening, to golf, to bike riding to imparting his knowledge of electronics by building circuits and computers. He loved vacations where the whole family could be together under one roof, especially at the beach. In his spare time, Mike liked to tinker and troubleshoot broken electronics given to him by family and friends. It made him so happy when he was able to solve a problem for loved ones.
Professionally, Mike dedicated himself to various roles within the tech industry, ascending to the positions of manager, executive director and ultimately Vice President. His dedication and passion were evident in every endeavor, both in his career and his devotion to his family. Above it all, he lived to serve. He organized a committee of school fathers to wire the entire 2 story school for the coming of the internet. He helped build stages and props for his daughter's drama club; he assisted in innumerable fundraisers all to help others.
Even in retirement, Mike continued to share his expertise, offering guidance as a consultant for a tech startup. Additionally, he embraced his role as a pillar in the community, serving as an active member of the Knights of Columbus, where he recently held the esteemed position of Grand Knight.
Mike devoted his life to helping others, and now, even in death, he gives life to many through his gift of being an organ donor. His spirit of giving lives on, inspiring us to carry forward his incredible example of love and generosity.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost 50 years, Naomi, brother Steve and sister-in-law Lisa Macari, sister Roseanne Macari, sister-in-law Nancy Marcus, son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tameria Macari, daughter Elizabeth Macari and son-in-law Joseph Whitney, grandchildren Alysa, Ilaina, Mia and Evan Macari, and Rosalie and Evelyn Whitney, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
