Obituary of John R. Sembrot

John R. Sembrot, age 79, of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Carol (Lazarecki) Sembrot. Born in Bridgeport on December 25, 1944, he was a son of the late John and Stella (Falkowski) Sembrot. Mr. Sembrot had worked as an accountant for many years and built many friendships along the way. He had a competitive nature and his mastery of the various games of bocce, darts and playing cards were taken quite seriously. He led an honest life and was best described as a gentleman in every respect of the word. He believed that everyone should be judged according to their character and led his life in that way. His Catholic devotion and deep spirituality formed a unique faith over his life. Family and friends often sought his grounded and empathetic counsel. Reserved but eager to be with friends or family to share his sense of humor. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his beloved wife Carol of 60 years, survivors include his devoted children, John Sembrot, Jr and his wife Diane of Trumbull and Stefanie Sembrot of Shelton, his cherished grandchildren, Cole and Lauren Sembrot, Elizabeth Barentine and her husband Chris and Julia DiBartolomeo, his sisters, Barbara Chockey of Brewster, MA, Eleanor Baldyga of Easton and Jean Higgins of Shelton as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 11:00 am directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
