Obituary of Benedetto Orazio Leone
Benedetto Bennie Orazio Leone, age 84, of Stratford, died peacefully in St. Vincents Medical Center, Bridgeport on Monday, January 31, 2011 with his family at his side. He was born in Bridgeport on December 19, 1926, a son of the late Luigi and Angelina Stracquadanio Leone. After graduating from Harding High School, class of 1944, he proudly served in the Navy as a Seabee in Okinawa during WWII. He was a member of the VFW Post 9460 in Stratford. He had such a love of country that he faithfully flew the stars and stripes in front of his home with pride. Mr. Leone was employed by Avco Lycoming from 1953 until his retirement in 1984 and later was also a meat cutter by trade and retired from Waldbaums Supermarket in 2004.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife and companion of 39 years, Patricia Tillson Leone and his five children, Benedict Leone and his wife Teresa of Stratford, Deborah Capozziello and her partner Dominick Conte of Stratford, Janice Correia of Ansonia, Donna Anderson of Trumbull, Marybeth Leone and her partner Peter Kleitz of Trumbull; two step children, Glenn Niestemski of Shelton and Cheryl Niestemski and her partner Bruce Haning of San Antonio, Texas. Bennie will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Laura Shipchack Meneo and her husband Michael and their children Adrienne, Anthony and Bella, Lana Paige Quincy and her husband Scott and their children Benjamin and William, Jan-Michael Capozziello and his children Jonathan and Chloe, Christopher and Steven Anderson, Benedict L. Leone, Joseph Niestemski and his daughter Rachel and Shaun Niestemski and his daughters Briana, Felicity and Alisia and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers Michael, George and Louis.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Marks Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michaels Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
