Obituary of John V. Marella

John V. Marella, age 63, of Bridgeport, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at his residence.  John was born in Bridgeport on October 25, 1960, and was a lifelong resident, he was a son of Rose Marie Pasqua of Port St. Lucie, Florida and the late Victor Marella, Sr.   John was a graduate of the Culinary Institute in New York and for many years worked at Gennaro’s Restaurant and other fine New Haven restaurants. He was a die-hard fan of the New York Yankees and Indianapolis Colts and a lifelong Kiss fan. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.  

In addition to his beloved mother, Rose Marie, survivors include his sister, Andrea Zamuda and her husband Gary of Fletcher, VT, nieces and nephews, Victor and Brittany Marella and Hailey and Luke Zamuda as well as a special cousin, Antoinette Simeone of Huntington.  He was predeceased by his brother, Victor Marella, Jr.

Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday morning, January 15, 2024 from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m.  in St. Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, CT 06111.
