Obituary of Richard James Scofield, Jr.

Richard James Scofield, Jr., age 53, passed away unexpectedly after a traumatic fall on Friday, December 29, 2023 in his Milford home. His family and friends are devastated by this sudden loss. Richard was born in Norwalk, CT on April 29, 1970, to parents Richard Sr. and Charlene (DeBiase) Scofield. He was a member of Notre Dame High School’s graduating Class of 1988, and went on to attend Sacred Heart University. Richard’s career spanned many years with Chestnut Hill Carting as their top operator. Prior to that he had been employed by Pack-Timco where he was a heating and air conditioning technician. Rich, as he was always known, was a gentle, loving soul. His greatest enjoyment was found in the time he spent with his son, Anthony, whom he adored above all else. His kind heart and strong devotion extended not only to his immediate family, but to every member of his large extended family.

He is survived by his parents, Richard Sr. and Charlene, his partner of 13 years, Heidi Wilson, their most cherished son, Anthony Wilson Scofield, a loving sister, Kerrie Scofield and her partner Emily Humiston, a niece and nephew, Dana and Jack Scofield, all of Wilton, aunts and uncles, Geri Scarpetti of Easton, Kathy and Gabe Falzarano of Stratford, Louis and Marge DeBiase of Bridgeport, and Sonya DeBiase of Stratford, along with many cousins and friends, too numerous to mention.

As a child, Rich fell in love with matchbook cars and finding treasures - big and small. Those two passions continued as he grew. If he wasn’t tinkering under a car’s hood, he was discovering a special piece of furniture, an old newspaper clipping, a rare antique and countless other treasures that he loved to share. His kindness and compassion touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed by all.

Richard’s family will welcome all relatives and friends on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. directly in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. For online condolences, please visit us at www.abriola.com
