Obituary of Lourdes Quintana

Lourdes M. Irizarry Quintana, age 74, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of William Quintana, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2023 surrounded by her devoted family, after a long and courageous battle. Born in Ponce Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Esteban and Felicita Ruiz Irizarry.

Lourdes worked for over 40 years for the City of Bridgeport, retiring from the Civil Service where she assisted hundreds of city employees and with her dedicated service made an impact on everyone she met, from Police and Fire Departments to others respectfully, she always greeted everyone with her gentle demeanor and her amazing smile.

She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, godmother and grandmother, who always put the needs of her family before her own. She treasured when the family was together, especially the many family gatherings that brought music, dancing, love, and laughter to create lifelong memories. She came from humble beginnings, a large family with musical talents and angelic harmonizing voices that were often heard by so many. She passed on her amazing voice to her granddaughter Gia, who she absolutely loved to hear sing. She was a huge Mets fan and loved UConn basketball. She went on countless camping adventures with her husband, where she cooked amazing meals and hosted many Fourth of July events for family and friends. Most of all, she loved her trips to the casino where she enjoyed playing slot machines, concerts, and having dinner to kick back and relax. She was really the jackpot, inside and out! She was a beautiful soul and a true pearl. The unconditional love she gave and the values she taught will forever live in the hearts of all who loved her.

In addition to her beloved husband of 53 years, William, survivors include her three loving children, Christina Giannelli and her husband Marc, Brian Quintana and his wife Sherry and David Quintana and his wife Melissa, two adored grandchildren, Gianna and Joseph, seven brothers and sisters, Egda Irizarry, Nestor Irizarry and his wife Evelyn, Estenia Martinez, Wanda Muniz, Evelyn Irizarry, George Irizarry and his wife Ingrid and Albert Irizarry and his wife Ada, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-laws. She was predeceased by a brother, Efren Irizarry who is survived by his wife Nylda.

We want to thank the amazing Smilow Cancer Care Team at Yale New Haven Health, especially the Smilow Trumbull Park Avenue team and Dr. Neal Fischbach who she admired so dearly.
