My heart is shattered. For my mommy. For my little brother. For my little sisters. For our children, Gabriella, Brian and Gia. My heart shatters for our children, especially, because they will never remember their Nonno. The only thing that we have is our memories. I will make sure to always keep his memory alive. The way that he spoke Italian. The way that he sang in Italian. The way that he’d look you straight in the eyes, and pinch you, without taking his eyes away from yours. The way that he’d quote SpongeBob. The way that he loved pickles and Hostess cupcakes late at night, like a pregnant woman. The way that he’d dance. The way that he’d laugh. The way that he was my dad. I’m going to miss everything about him, because he never missed anything about me. Piggy back rides. Teaching me how to ride my bike in the church parking lot. Daddy, daughter dances. Dancing on his toes. Parent teacher conferences. My sweet sixteen. Walking me down the aisle. Late night talks. Hospital trips. Meeting my son, and being the best Nonno in the world. This one is going to hurt. Bad. Thank you for the best twenty eight years of my life, thank you for stepping in and stepping up, thank you for an amazing name, thank you for raising me to be the amazing woman that I am. I will carry you with me for the rest of my life. I love you, “Mollo”. “I fucking love you, Man.”
