Obituary of Estelle F. Carrafiello
Estelle F. Carrafiello, age 77, of Stratford passed away suddenly on Monday, July 17, 2023 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport surrounded by her loving family and a cherished friend. Born in Bridgeport on February 19, 1946 she was a daughter of the late Frank A. and Mary D. (Merola) Carrafiello both of whom she cared for until their deaths. Estelle had been employed by City of Bridgeport Board of Education, where she had worked as a special education teacher for over thirty-five years before her retirement and had touched the lives of many with her patient and kind manner. She was a woman of great faith and a devout catholic, living her life by always giving to others. Estelle was proud to be a volunteer at the Bridgeport Hospital. She will be remembered for the blankets she knitted for babies born there. Estelle was an antique business owner and collector. Estelle had many passions including knitting, reading, spending time at the beach, and taking trips to the casino. She made many friends sharing common interests. Her greatest enjoyment was found in the time she spent surrounded by her loving family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her loving sister, Mary McCarriston and her husband Dan of Plaistow, NH, her brother, Michael Carrafiello and his wife Donna of Villages, FL, cherished nieces, Laura McCarriston and her husband Jeffrey Boldi of Plaistow, NH and Melissa Rolands and her husband Michael of Las Vegas, NV and their son, Jonathan Frank, who will miss his treasured Zia greatly, special cousins, Sally and Coreen Pace of Stratford, as well as many beloved cousins. She was predeceased by her nephew Adam LeBarre.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 1:00 pm in Our Lady of Peace Church, 651 Stratford Rd., Stratford. Interment will follow in Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Thursday from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
