Obituary of Barbara A. Ambrose

Barbara A. (Coughlin) Ambrose, age 88, of Port St. Lucie, FL and formerly of Bridgeport passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Griffin Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond L. Ambrose. Born in Brockton, MA on August 13, 1934 she was a daughter of the late Robert and Ida (Ohman) Coughlin. Mrs. Ambrose was employed by the City of Bridgeport at Bassick High School for many years before her retirement, where she built many friendships. Barbara loved cooking for her family and also liked listening to polka music. She enjoyed boating with her late husband, traveling to Florida for vacations and looked forward to frequent trips to the casino with her family. Her greatest enjoyment however was found in the time she was surrounded by her family. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her devoted children, Cheryl Valentino and her husband Vincent of Oxford, Maria Ambrose and her partner Ron Taylor of Vero Beach, FL, Barbara Ann Lambo and her husband David of Port St. Lucie, Fl and Mark Ambrose and his wife Lisa of Trumbull, her cherished grandchildren, William Ambrose, Marissa Browning, Vanessa Williams, Alexa Ambrose, Mark Ambrose Jr., Matthew Lambo, John Lambo and Ava Lambo, as well as 5 great grandchildren. In addition to her beloved husband Ray, she was also predeceased by her twin sons, Raymond and Michael Ambrose and her great grandson, Ray-Ray Ambrose.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Entombment will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
