We grieve when a dear person leaves us. We feel pain in our hearts and souls. But when someone like Mrs. Nada L. Crnić leaves you, then you feel a void.
Mrs. Nada and her husband Robert, my late parents knew and were friends with them long before their emigration from the country at that time.
Stories about them, and especially about Mrs. Nada, were often told to me by my late mother, with whom she was a sincere friend. One word ran through all the conversations - Nada's great empathy, Nada's great love for her family, for her husband, for her children, for her grandchildren. She always knew when her loved ones needed help. She lived a simple life, she never had the need to stand out. Mrs. Nada was distinguished by her kindness, her friendship in which you could always trust.
Mrs. Nada Crnić was the penultimate link with my late parents, with whom she used to have long phone conversations (I live in Zagreb, Croatia), the penultimate link with the entire generation of people I grew up with.
We heard from each other a few weeks ago and there was no indication that she would leave us.
We agreed that we will definitely hear from each other at Easter. Unfortunately, that conversation will not take place.
Dear Mrs. Nada, may the angels take you to heaven, high among the stars, from where you will watch over us and pray for us.
I am sure you are already talking to all your family members, friends, including my parents.
I know I will never be able to put one flower on your grave, but when I visit my parents' grave, there will be a candle burning for you.
May you have eternal peace.
