Obituary of Kostantinos Dimitrios Matsikas
Kostantinos Dimitrios Matsikas, age 58, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Marianthi Bletsas Matsikas, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 17, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Athens, Greece on December 9, 1964, he was a son of Anthoula Pappa Matsikas and the late Dimitrios Matsikas. While in Greece, he was a member of the Hellenic Army and migrated to the United States in 1987.
Kostantinos, known by his family and closest friends as "Kostas," prioritized family. An honest man, with an infectious laugh, who energized every room. Kostas extended a helping hand and put others above himself. He led by example and never broke his word.
He found the greatest fulfillment being with his wife, children and grandchildren. In every conversation, he shared photos of his grandchildren in adoration. A true fanatic when it came to soccer. He instilled his passion for the sport in his sons and grandsons. Kostas was seldom found relaxing; he worked endlessly to help build Hellas Air for over 30 years in Norwalk. He seldom showed pride in being an American on paper; he bled blue and white in everything he did. "Oxi san thn Ellada" (Not like Greece) he was endlessly heard saying.
In addition to his beloved wife of 35 years, Marianthi, and his mother Anthoula, survivors include his four loving children, Anthoula Johnson and her husband Omar Antonis, Taki Matsikas and his wife Georgina, Ourania Gountas and her husband George and Apostoli Matsikas, five cherished grandchildren, Maria, Michael, Thea, Kosta and Natalia, two brothers, Alexandros Matsikas and his wife Veta and Ioannis Matsikas and his wife Amalia; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends both in the United States and Greece.
Visitation will take place on Friday, February 24, 2023 from 9:30 am until time of service at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Park Ave, Bridgeport, CT. The Rite of Burial will follow at 11am with Fr. Georgios Livaditis Presbyter officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk. Arrangements entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. To leave an online condolence please visit www.abriola.com.
