Obituary of Joyce Pinto

Joyce (Zaleha) Pinto of Trumbull, age 80, beloved wife of Donald R. Pinto Sr., passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Bridgeport Hospital. She was born in Bridgeport on September 30, 1941 to the late John and Bernadette Zaleha. She married Donald Sr., the love of her life, in 1960. They had two children, son Donald Jr. and daughter Susie, who Joyce stayed home to raise in Trumbull in a house filled with love, laughter, and food. When her children got older she joined her husband's business of 47 years, Fine Arts Beauty Salon in Fairfield, where she worked as a receptionist. She enjoyed travel – especially the Caribbean – spending time with her friends and neighbors, and perhaps most of all online shopping. She will be missed by her devoted UPS, FedEx, and Amazon delivery drivers. She was a doting mother, grandmother, and, eventually, great-grandmother. She was fiercely devoted to her family and elevated worrying about them to an art form.

Besides her husband of 62 years she is survived by her son Donald Jr. and his wife Lynne Powell-Pinto of Hull, MA, her daughter Susie Meyer and her husband Steve Meyer of Easley, SC, and her sister Arline Russo and her husband Joe Russo of Shelton. On her son's side she leaves three grandsons: Alexander Pinto and his wife Tova Teperow of Arlington, MA, Nicholas Pinto of Carbondale, CO, and Kiernan Pinto of Hull, MA. On her daughter's side she leaves three granddaughters: Samantha O'Reilly and her husband Conor O'Reilly of Los Gatos, CA, their daughter Emily, and their newborn son James; Blair Privette and her husband Hank Privette of Easley, SC and their daughters Lillian and Mabel; and Paige Yearwood and her husband Lucas Yearwood of Tigersville, SC. She also leaves her sister-in-law Susan (Pinto) DeSanty and her husband Harold DeSanty, her nephews Christopher DeSanty and Kevin DeSanty, and her nieces Lauren (DeSanty) VanDerveer and Monica Jackson-Russo

Joyce's life will be celebrated at a funeral Mass on Monday, October, 3, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 4700 Madison Ave., Trumbull. Visitors are welcome to greet the family prior to Mass at 9:00 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, CT 06611. Entombment will take place following Mass at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to their cousins Al and Richard DeSimone – the proprietors of Jennie's Pizzeria of Monroe – Al's wife Regina, and Richard's wife Eva, for their love, support, and delicious food over the year and especially during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org.
