Obituary of John Joseph Sivak

John Sivak

(August 21, 1951 – September 16, 2022)

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of John Sivak on September 16, 2022, in the comfort of his home in Monroe, CT, following a long, courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). John was born in Bridgeport on August 21, 1951 to the late Susan and John Sivak.

John leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Nancy Caruso Sivak, to whom he was deeply devoted and appreciative of her unparalleled, loving care; his son and only child, John Sivak, with whom he shared an exceptional bond and relied on his considerate care and lovingly planned joyous outings; daughter-in-law, Kristal Sivak, his master hairstylist, who he relied on for his handsome style and appearance; two beautiful grandchildren, Scarlett Eve and J.J. Sivak, who brought much love, laughter, and excitement to their grandpa, which was evident in his smile, he adored them; mother-in-law, Angeline Caruso, who treated him with utmost respect; his twin brother and best friend, Daniel Sivak, with which he shared a special bond and nightly phone conversations; his sister Mary Ann Salerno; brother George Sivak (Donna); sister-in law, Diane DeLuca and her partner, Mario Infanti, who will miss John immensely; brother-in-law, Michael Caruso; nephews, Anthony and Daniel Caruso, Michael Sivak, David Salerno; nieces, Amy Anderson, Tracie Hoey; and special friends, Roy and Kathy Lenhard, who thoughtfully brought John his favorite pastries and garden fresh vegetables. John was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Nina Sivak.

John relied on many people to carry him through his debilitating years, and expressed gratification with a smile, while bowing his head. Prior to his illness, John was a welder by trade, a strong, hardworking man who could build anything and always willing to lend a helping hand. John enjoyed visitors and good conversation, fishing with his son, relaxing on the porch, engaging in a good debate, watching episode upon episode of Columbo, his favorite holiday, Thanksgiving, and most of all, his loving family. The tenacity and resilience John demonstrated throughout his illness is inspirational and a testament to never give up, no matter how tough life becomes. We will miss his loyalty, beautiful smile, calm demeanor, and most of all, his presence.

The family wishes to thank the special caregivers who lovingly provided John with exemplary care and compassion; RNs, Maria, Helen, Brian, Kristina, and Aides, Gladys, Diana, Elsa, Elizabeth, Carlos, and especially Nadine, who playfully wheeled John through the neighborhood, making him the envy of the community. A special thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Gross, for his care throughout John's nearly 30 year journey with MS. The greatest and most special caregiver was his wife, Nancy, who never wavered, even during the toughest times. She was truly his Angel.

Friends are invited to attend a graveside memorial service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 1056 Daniels Farm Rd., Trumbull, on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at 11:00 AM. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at High Meadows Condo Complex, in the clubhouse, Highland Drive, Monroe, for lunch. High Meadows is located on Monroe Turnpike, past Masuk High School, on the left.
