Obituary of Jose Joaquim Ferreira Rodrigues

Jose Joaquim Ferreira Rodrigues, age 87, of Monroe, beloved husband of Constanca G. Pereira Rodrigues, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 with his loving family by his side. He was born on April 3,1935 in Redondelo, Chaves, Portugal. He was a son of the late Joao and Josefina Ferreira Rodrigues. Jose was a member of the Portuguese Army and served his country in Portugal and India. Prior to immigrating to the United States in 1977, he lived in Luanda, Angola with his family.

A devout Catholic, he and his wife were loyal parishioners of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Above everything in life, he was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He treasured the time spent with his family here in the United States and summers in his hometown in Portugal. The unconditional love he gave will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Jose will be deeply missed.

In addition to his beloved wife of 61 years, Constanca, survivors include his loving son, John Rodrigues and his wife Anna Maria of Monroe, two cherished grandchildren, Amanda Rose Rodrigues and her fiancé Raul and Jonathan Joseph Angelo Rodrigues and his partner Molly. He also leaves behind two brothers, Joaquim Rodrigues (Maria) of Portugal, Antonio Rodrigues (Alice) of New Jersey, a sister, Clementina Pires (Jose) of Portugal, sisters and brothers-in-law, Ana Rodrigues and Idalia and Carlos Ferreira of Portugal, Donzilia Pereira of Brazil, Irene and Antonio Cardoso of Arizona, as well as several cherished nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Joao Rodrigues; sisters Ana Dias, Maria Rede; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joao Dias, Armando Pereira, and Dionizio and Maria Ferreira.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions in Jose's name to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport, CT 06608.
