Obituary of Filipe Monteiro Moderno

Filipe (Phil) Moderno, age 50, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born in France, on April 12, 1972 he was the son of Albino Pereira Dos Santos Moderno of Portugal and the late Cremilde Monteiro Joao.

A very hardworking man, he assisted his family for many years working at the family business, Pombal Bakery. Whether delivering bread or working inside, he was always there to help. In 2004, Phil's hard work paid off when he began his own trucking business, Phil's Trucking LLC. He worked to provide his family with only the best. These are values that he has passed on to his own children.

He was a loving and dedicated father. Phil treasured every moment with his kids, creating memories that will last a lifetime. He was also a loving son, brother and friend. The unconditional love he gave will forever live in their hearts. He lived life with a smile despite the adversities he faced. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his father, Albino, his survivors include his four loving and adored children, Daniel, Lucas, Alex and Sophia Moderno, their mother Priscila Silva, his devoted sister, Martina Moderno Fernandes and her husband Sergio of Shelton, loving nieces and nephew, Alexis, Tiffany and Branden Fernandes, his girlfriend Cristiani Freitas, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.

Relatives and friends may greet the family on Sunday July 31, 2022 from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. A prayer service will take place on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will take place in Pombal, Portugal.
