Obituary of Emily R. Smeriglio

Emily R. Tannone Smeriglio, age 91 of Trumbull and formerly of Port Chester, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of 67 years to the late Lawrence J. Smeriglio. Born in Port Chester, NY on July 7, 1930 she was a daughter of the late John and Rose Pauline Tannone.

Mrs. Smeriglio was a devoted parishioner of St. Theresa Church in Trumbull. Her faith, especially to the Holy Spirit, was extremely important to her and she attended mass daily. Emily spent countless hours volunteering and was awarded the St. Vincent’s Volunteer of the year in 2019. Her greatest enjoyment however was found in the time she spent with her family. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.  

Survivors include her loving children, Christopher Smeriglio and his wife Maria and Sharon Walsh and her husband Richard, both of Trumbull, her cherished grandchildren, Gregory Walsh and his wife Bethany, Brian Walsh and his wife Julianne, Jennifer Smeriglio, Alex Smeriglio and her adored great grandchildren, Rory, Hunter and Reagan, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, John, Pasquale and Rocco Tannone.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
