Obituary of Florina Florescu

Florina Florescu, age 76, of Monroe passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer and COVID-19 on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Bridgeport Hospital where she had been comforted and surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bucharest, Romania on April 29, 1945 she was the daughter of the late Ion Bucovan and Marioara Wolf. She was the owner and operator of Florina's Barber Shop, formerly of Stratford for over 35 years, where she built many beautiful friendships along the way. A loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her kindness and generosity touched everyone she met. She was always the driving force to bring the family and friends together. She tried to educate herself about immunotherapy by traveling to health fairs and continuously shared what she learned. She was an avid Rummy player and champ. She was a beautiful model in her younger years, but her true beauty shined from within.

She is survived by her loving children, Alexandru Florescu, George Florescu and his wife Cara and Anca Ghelmegeanu and her husband Alexandru, her cherished grandchildren, A.J. Florescu, Lucian Florescu, Kellan Florescu, Kyle Ghelmegeanu and Aidan Ghelmegeanu. She is also survived by her longtime companion, David Mihalov and loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and cousins.

All funeral services will be held privately for the immediate family. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church, 504 Sport Hill Rd., Easton, CT 06612. Arrangements have been entrusted to Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, Trumbull.
