Obituary of Barbara Claydon
Barbara Cifatte Claydon passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 4, 2022, at the age of 71. Barbara is survived by her husband Jack (John) Claydon, her son Jonathan Claydon and his wife Erin Murphy Claydon, along with their children Samuel, Seamus, August, and Maeve; her son Alexander Claydon and his wife Jennifer Lechak Claydon, along with their children Elowen and Ashton; and her daughter Catherine Claydon Mills and her husband Robert Mills, along with their children Charlotte and Eleanor.
Barbara was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on June 15, 1950, to her parents Dr. Victor J. Cifatte and Edith Burnett Cifatte. Barbara was a loving and doting older sister to her younger siblings Carol, Marianne and Bobby. Barbara was a lifelong lover of learning. She graduated with honors from St. Theresa School in Trumbull, in 1964, and from Lauralton Hall in Milford, in 1968. She attended Cardinal Cushing College in Brookline, Massachusetts and later took coursework at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven. Barbara also loved reading, biking, cooking, visiting museums, animals, and spending time near the ocean. She had no greater love, however, than her love for her family, and it is that love, more than anything, that will be her legacy. Barbara was a devoted mother, grandmother, spouse, sister, aunt, and daughter.
She loved her children fiercely and inspired in them the belief that the world is a magical place full of wonder, curiosity, and love. Barbara fought a decades-long battle with Parkinson's disease, which though it took much from her, never robbed her of her sparkling eyes and her capacity to love boundlessly. She will be missed dearly, but her memory will be cherished for all time.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation (https://www.michaeljfox.org/) or the American Parkinson Disease Association (https://www.apdaparkinson.org/).
