To the Lazar Family,
We registered our son at Stepney Elementary in the summer of 2015. Mr. Lazar was there when we came in, and once we were done with the paper work, he took us on a tour of the school and showed us our son's classroom. From that day, we knew our son was in a great place! Each day since, he always greeted us with a smile and always complimented our son on what a good student he was. Our son was able to go back to school last year, after being a distance learner for almost the whole year. He proudly stood for a picture when his name was called at the Moving Up Ceremony. We will never forget how kind, thoughtful, compassionate, and dedicated Mr. Lazar was to all his students and staff. Thank you for sharing Mr. Lazar with us. We are so very sorry for your loss, but we are grateful for the time our son was able to know him! Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you.
The Smith Family

A standout teacher to my 2 sons; I thoroughly loved being a parent chaperone with him at Natures Classroom, but the most fun was our Thursday night tennis together; I was so happy to see that someone could have as much enthusiasm (temper) on the court as me

Dear Diane and Family, I had the honor of knowing Bruce as he helped lead Sandy Hook. You shared with him my daughter’s struggle and he made her a special part of his day. He gave her a stuffed dog that had an alarm that allowed the kids to push a button if they got scared. Bruce made time for Sammy and supported the parents too. Diane, you were a wonderful friend and I will always be grateful for what you and Bruce did to help us through a very difficult time. If there is anything I could do for you or your family I would be there for you too! Sending lots of love your way my friend. XO Jill Marcioch

Diane and Family,
There are no adequate words to describe how much Bruce was loved and how much we knew he loved you. At Stepney, he was more than just our boss, he was a trusted friend to us all. He made us a family. We are all better people and educators for having had him in our lives. My heart goes out to you with love and prayers. We will miss him every day.

In 1994 Mr. Lazar was my 5th grade teacher. I have vivid memories of him setting a positive example for others and asking questions/giving me advice that helped to shape my core values. Even more than a decade after being my teacher, he would remember me by name and say hi when we crossed paths around town. He was one of the very few grown ups I ever came across who really left me feeling like I wanted to be just like them when I grew up. He will be missed but his impact will continue to be felt by those of us fortunate enough to know him.

Love and prayers to Diane, their kids, and all of Bruce’s loved ones from the Rajpolt family. Bruce has been a hero in our lives since the day Michelle’s heart stopped during her Chalk Hill gym class on 3/8/10 and Bruce rode in the ambulance with her and greeted us at the ER when we arrived. Every day since then, we’ve been thankful for his kindness and consider him part of our family too. His love for others shown brightly whether helping a student, supporting a charity (I.e. the polar Plunge and hoops for heart), or sharing his pride for his family. We will miss him but we will never ever forget him! Love, Sheryl, John, Amy & Michelle

Our thoughts and Prayers are with Bruce's family. Wish we could of met him as it seems he loved hard and was loved harder back. I heard Uncle Bruce and Nick Phillips his nephew shared a bond. I'm so sorry Nick is not able to be there during this time with his family. Sending Love, Peace and Prayers to you all. I had a candle lit in his honor at Church.
Lovingly, Nick's Mom and Dad #2 from Nebraska. Our son is with Nick at Ft. Campbell and they went to basic together. One big family now and always. Love, Mickey and Daniel and Nick's Army brother Jacob

The "Beamer" was a valued player on the Cardinals but beyond his playing I called on him for many team events. He coordinated all the luncheons, dinners ,meetings ,wrote articles for the newspaper and magazines.
He was my go to guy and was happy to help.
My condolences to Diane and her children and the entire Lazar family.
May he rest in peace.
