Obituary of Roberta L. Cioppa

Roberta L. Piccirillo Cioppa, age 86 passed away peacefully and entered into heaven on December 1, 2021. Born in Bridgeport on September 13, 1935, she was a daughter of the late John R. Piccirillo and Eva Riopel Piccirillo and was a resident of Trumbull for over 80 years.

Roberta attended Lauralton Hall high school and graduated in 1953. She then went on to attend University of Bridgeport and Fairfield University, where she received two masters and a sixth year degree. She spent many years as a teacher in both Trumbull, and for over 25 years, at the Helen Keller Middle school in Easton. Roberta was an accomplished artist, sculptor, jeweler and writer. She received numerous best in show awards for her works and was proud to have had a one women show at the Museum of Arts and History in Bridgeport. She was an avid traveler, taking many trips with her family, along with numerous trips to Europe on bicycling tours with close friends. Roberta really enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners along with Holiday dinners for her family. She had a special place in her heart for her parish, St. Theresa, but what she loved the most, was her family.

Survivors include her three loving children, Ronald M. Cioppa, Lynne T. Grillo and her husband Michael, Robert J. Cioppa, a sister, Patricia Massimino, three grandchildren, Emily, Niki and Ruby Cioppa and a great grandson, Jayce Wilcox as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, John Piccirillo and a grandson Paul Grillo.

All are invited to meet directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull on Friday, December 10th, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial.
