I not only had the privilege of having Mr. Lovely as my Principal at St. Theresa's School but he was also my basketball coach when I was a 6th grader on the Varsity Team. He not only taught his players the fundamentals of the game but also how to be become proper young gentlemen. He always instilled the values of sportsmanship and fair play above all else and served as a role model for all those boys who had the pleasure of playing on his team. Whenever his name was mentioned the first thing everyone would say was "Mr. Lovely was a lovely man". He will be greatly missed, my sincerest condolences!

So sorry to hear about his passing. Always got a kick out of talking to him whether at a wrestling tournament or in the locker room at the Y, he made me chuckle. Please know we are thinking about you during your time of grief.

The memory of Ted Lovely will live in our hearts forever as he was a superior role model for us all to emulate. From family and friends to community involvement in all of his areas of engagement, he left a special mark of caring honesty, integrity and positivity. I will be forever grateful for his steadfast encouragement to the Naval Academy and the journey that followed as well as reconnecting me to my Irish heritage. Blessings to him, Nancy and family. They will always be together in spirit.
GO NAVY! Love, Karin

Having worked with Ted for many years at Trumbull High School, I remember him as a man with extraordinary values and integrity. He always found time to talk with staff members, and I particularly enjoyed the private conversations that he and I had many times. He will be remembered as a consummate educator and friend. We will pray for his entire family at this difficult time.

To the entire Lovely family - I am so sad to hear to Ted's passing. He was a wonderful school leader and dad. I have such fond memories of being in your home and my first introduction to what a true St. Patrick's Day celebration looked like. I hope the wonderful memories provide a bit of comfort during this difficult time. Mary Rusterholz

Mr. Lovely was my math teacher at Central HS. He was new at teaching, but was firm and set high standards for us. Math became my favorite subject. He was really devoted to his students and in helping them be successful.
My deepest sympathy to Mr. Lovely's family.

I was a 71 graduate, and while I was waiting to go to collage, I landed a fill in position at THS. I was the person answering the phones.
Well, this particular day, was slow until I got the dreaded bomb call! This was a first for me, ran to Dr Goldstein’s office but empty. Leaving the phones, I finally got to Mr. Lovely’s office. Still trying to be polite, but my nerves were getting the best of me. I just blurted out “bomb call”!
Thank God he took over for me and evacuated the school!
Luckily, no bomb, but I sure matured years that day!
Spent the day with police trying to describe what I heard on “my” phone call!
A day I would never forget and thought fondly as Ted popped up as a Facebook friend!

I was very honored to know Mr Lovely through my THS years. In 1972 ... My Senior year. I suffered the tragic loss of my twin sister a short 2 months before we were to graduate. If it wasn’t for Mr Lovely and all his support and understanding , I don’t know what I would have done. He meant a lot to me. RIP Mr Lovely.
You will be missed. God bless.
