Obituary of Colleen Secula

Colleen (McGrath) Secula of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was 60 years old. The beloved wife of Robert F. Secula, Colleen was born in Bridgeport on March 25, 1961 to the late Martin P. McGrath and Theresa Mae (Rapice) McGrath. Colleen studied music at the University of Bridgeport and many will remember her beautiful soprano voice. She sang for many church choirs in the area and was a member of the Connecticut Grand Opera Chorus. She loved gardening, baking, and was a voracious reader. Her greatest enjoyment however was found in the time she spent surrounded by her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend of many. She took much pride in her family and always spoke fondly of them. She will be missed by all who loved her for her generous spirit, her quick wit, her intelligence, and her kindness.

In addition to her beloved husband Robert of 10 years, other survivors include her loving children, Diana Vanschaick and her husband Sean of Tacoma, WA, Jason Secula of Sunnyvale, CA and Gabriel Secula, also of Sunnyvale, CA, her cherished grandson, Gabriel Vanschaick, her brothers and sisters, Michael McGrath and his wife Elizabeth of Fairfield, Maureen Agresta and her husband Fraser of Milford, Kathleen Oliver and her husband Robert of Trumbull, Mark McGrath and his wife Kirsten of Stratford, Eileen McGrath of Newtown and Shannon McGrath and her husband Matthew Bowen of Derby, her brother-in-law, Alexander Ling of Rockville, MD, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary Ling and her beloved nephew, Colin McGrath.

Friends may greet the family on Friday, November 26, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will be held privately for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
