Obituary of Richard G. Anderson

Richard G. Anderson, age 65, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. Son to Betty M. Anderson and the late John R. Anderson, Rich earned his bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Bridgeport, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He was formerly employed by City Line Florist in Trumbull for over 25 years.

Rich was a master gardener, designing beautiful gardens inside and out. He was a proud volunteer with Americares in Fairfield, using his vacation time to support families in need. Rich enjoyed hiking anywhere he went, identifying wildflowers along the way and took beautiful photographs. He never found a rock or glass bottle he didn't like. He was a member of the Yankee Polecat club, collecting many and varied insulators. He enjoyed collecting pinecones, driftwood, and rocks to create wreaths and other artwork. Rich loved to laugh and enjoyed a good joke. Even as his health declined, he maintained his sense of humor.

In addition to his loving mother, Betty, he is survived by his daughter, Amy Alvarez and her husband, Xavier, of Stratford, two cherished grandsons, Zion and Miles Alvarez; brothers, Mark Anderson and his wife Betsy of Maine and Alan Anderson and his wife Michelle of California, niece and nephew, Sonya and Jack and many beloved friends. A special thanks to all the staff at St. Joseph's Center for their compassion, care and friendship to Rich for almost 9 years.

Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Visitors are asked to wear masks and maintain social distance.  A prayer service will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Nature Conservancy.
