Obituary of Louis J. Bonazzo Sr.

Louis J. Bonazzo, Sr. age 80, of Shelton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at St. Vincent Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Carol Bonaventura Bonazzo. Born in Bridgeport on June 26, 1941, he was a son of the late Louis R. Bonazzo and Loretta Puglio Bonazzo.

Before his retirement, Lou wore many hats. He worked as a construction estimator for many years. His earlier years were spent in the engineering department with the Town of Trumbull. Lou was a drummer in the band The Three Keys, and an avid music lover. He was a founding member of the Trumbull BMX race track, served as chairman of the first Trumbull Day held at Hillcrest Middle School, a member of the Trumbull Jaycees, Trumbull Center Lions Club, and the Adriatic Marchegian Club in Derby. Lou enjoyed spending his free time outdoors, admiring his garden, fishing, going on nature walks, playing bocce, watching Sunday golf, or sitting on his patio "contemplating life". He was always up for a game of cards or a cocktail, his most recent favorite being a "sassy bourbon." Family was his most prized possession, and he loved nothing more than being around his wife, children and grandchildren. Lou was the patriarch of his family, who are thankful for his kind and loving example. Lou greeted everyone with a smile on his face, always saw the best in others, believed in counting blessings and living each day with a grateful heart.

In addition to his beloved wife Carol of 54 years, survivors include his three loving children, Louis Bonazzo, Jr., Amy Potvin (Joseph) and Jennifer DiVincenzo (Tim Parkes), a brother, Bob Bonazzo (Lisa) and a sister, Annette Dobbs and eight cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Emma & Sean Potvin, Jackson, Steven & Molly Bonazzo and D.J & Max DiVincenzo as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant son, Kevin.

Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 200 Shelton Rd., Trumbull on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 12:00 Noon for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
