Obituary of Nancy V. Sicona
Nancy Cannizzaro Sicona entered into eternal peace on September 9, 2021. She was born in Hazleton Penn, in 1929, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Frances Pidoto Cannizzaro and became a lifelong resident of Bridgeport. She attended Read School and graduated with the Class of 1946 from Central High School.
In 1953 she married Ignazio (John) Sicona. They had two children, Susan who died in childbirth and John born in 1958. Nancy is survived by her son, John of Milford, CT and his fiancée, Margaret Bodell. She was predeceased by two brothers, Philip and Joseph Cannizzaro.
Nancy enjoyed being a mother and a housewife and was married for 37 years until her husband passed away unexpectedly in 1991. Nancy joined the workforce at Saint Joseph's Manor where she was a beloved member of the support team and retired at age 80 after 30 years of dedication.
Throughout her life she enjoyed many travels to Las Vegas, Florida, California and CT's coastlines and Casinos, attending countless concerts, theatrical performances and traveling to Boston to attend Red Sox games. Nancy loved cooking family recipes from Sicily, and dining out Italian style.
Later in life, Nancy lived independently and enjoyed family celebrations with her nephew Sandy Cannizzaro and his wife Sue. Nancy was a deeply spiritual person who cared for all those around her, she loved keeping in touch with her friend from childhood, Helen Bratchell.
A Funeral Home Service will take place on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery,Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.
