Obituary of Orlando Marini
Orlando Marini, age 91, of Trumbull, beloved husband of the late Ezora Marie Gregorini Marini, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Born January 8, 1930 in Frosinone, Italy, he was a son of the late Giuseppe and Teresa Noce Marini. Orlando and Ezora were married on October 18, 1952 and he was the owner and operator of Garwood Construction Co. Prior to starting his own business, he worked for E&F Construction Co. for 22 years as a mason foreman. An avid golfer, he was a Tashua Senior Champion and was credited with three holes in one. He was a member of the Roma Club and Board Member of the Circolo Sportivo Club in Bridgeport. Orlando loved playing cards, gardening, cooking, making soppressata and cheering for the Yankees, Juventus F.C, Italia National Soccer Team and the New York Giants. However, his greatest enjoyment was time spent with his family. He was a loving, devoted and selfless husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his sons, Gene Marini and his wife Ellen of Monroe, Joseph Marini and his wife Pamela of Tewksbury, New Jersey and Robert Marini and his wife Sheila of Trumbull, four cherished grandsons, Brian Marini and his wife Christina, Daniel Marini, Matthew Marini and Michael Marini and his wife Sarah, two great grandchildren, Brian and Juliana Marini; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law George Bonvini and sister-in-law Diana Gregorini Bonvini, and two brothers and their wives, Sebastiano and Gina Marini and Domenico and Anna Marini.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 4700 Madison Ave., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull. A walk-through visitation will take place on Monday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Masks are recommended and social distance required, as visitors walk through, pay their respects, and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through the building. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org.
