Gertrude Giaquinto Moran. 88, of Shelton, passed away peacefully on Thursday September 9, 2021. Born in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Santillo) Giaquinto. Gert was predeceased by her beloved husband, James J. Moran Jr., her first grandchild, Jamie Elizabeth Moran, and her brothers Vincent, Nicholas, Earl (Babe), and Frank Giaquinto. She is survived by her devoted children James Moran III and his wife Carey of Mystic, Raymond Moran and his partner Mark Oldham of Shelton, and Andree Stusalitus and her husband, John, of Shelton. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Johnna Clark and her husband Solomon, James IV, Leo, and Edward Moran, and Sean and Ryan Stusalitus. Gert also leaves behind her loving sister, Rose Autuori of Shelton and her sister-in-law Doris Plavnicky and husband John of Stratford. In addition, she leaves behind many special nieces and nephews, life-long friends and extended family members all of whom she cherished very much. Her friends at Aspetuck Village and BrightView Senior Living were very important to her and she would often talk about them fondly.
A homemaker known for her holiday gatherings and Christmas cookies, Gert's home was always open to family and friends. Known for her personable, friendly nature, she was quick to make and keep friends. Gert's Catholic faith was central to her life. She shared her devotion to Padre Pio and her children and grandchildren relied on her prayers. Gert faithfully attended Mass whether in person or on television. When her children were young, she volunteered extensively at St. Joseph's in Shelton where she participated in and led many clubs and organizations.
Gert and Jim traveled extensively during their retirement years throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Orient. She loved sharing stories of their travels especially over Christmas when she would display her souvenir ornament collection.
The family would like to thank all the dedicated doctors, nurses and CNAs for all their care and compassion over the years.
