Obituary of Charlotte Moulyn

Charlotte A. Moulyn, daughter of the late Adrian and Celia Moulyn, died unexpectantly of heart complications on March 22. She was born in Ipswich, Massachusetts in 1942. Charlotte is pictured opposite with one of her closest friends, Lori Esposito. Charlotte was a free spirit, with a keen intelligence, and a great sense of humor. She began cello studies in her teens where she quickly excelled. She was always intently focused on bringing out the meaning of the music. She graduated from Mannes College of Music and earned a Masters of Performance at Yale. Charlotte had a particular love of Bach. After playing for Pablo Casals at a master class, Casals went up to her and said, "You know how to play Bach." Charlotte was a gentle, encouraging teacher who taught her students how to bring out the spirit of the music they were working on. She was a member of various orchestras, including most recently the Norwalk and Bridgeport Orchestras. She also performed as a member of the Amore Piano Trio with her sister, Celia, violinist, and pianist Nava Zeevi. Charlotte was an enthusiastic knitter who greatly enjoyed her knitting club friends. And she was crazy about animals. As a result of a stroke, her last years were spent at the Jewish Senior Services home in Bridgeport. But there, despite her disability, she managed to spread cheer to so many residents with her wonderful smile, interest in others, and playful sense of humor. The family wants to express their appreciation to Charlotte's friends who, until Covid, unfailingly visited her week in and week out, and to the caring nurses, aides and therapists who also brightened her day in so many ways. She also benefitted from excellent doctors. Charlotte was a truly loving person. We sorely miss her. She is survived by her sister, Celia Weil, Celia's husband Robert, and Charlotte's brother, William Moulyn. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
