I have so many great memories of Dad over the years.
I remember how crafty Dad was when he planned to buy something or lease a car. He would prepare by studying consumer reports and get as much information as possible before meeting the sales rep. He would let the salesperson talk and run through their sales pitch thinking they had the upper hand. Then Dad would go into high gear quoting facts, ratings and statistics. I always admired watching him negotiate those deals and getting all kind of extras thrown in. I often wondered what the salesperson must have thought after Dad left about how he got his pockets picked. But Dad was always prepared.
Dad loved to play golf when he had the chance. He read magazines, practiced and talked to other golfers to improve his game. He knew nearly all of the golf pros and starters at the courses where he played and had great conversations with them. He was very encouraging to anyone that he played with no matter how good or not so good (that would be me) they were.
Dad shared many stories about work and was passionate about his job. He stayed abreast of current events and was an avid reader. Dad could hold a discussion with anyone on just about any given subject.
But the one thing that Dad took pride in more than anything else was family. That was the most important thing to him. He always made sure to take time to ask about peoples days and what was going on in their lives. He would make a big deal about any accomplishments. He loved getting together for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, or for no reason at all. Dad loved to have his family around. Even in the last few years, that was still the most important thing to him. An inside joke between us was that whenever I fixed anything or explained something, and he asked how I knew about it, I would tell him that I saw it in the movies. That always made him chuckle.
From the beginning, I was made to feel part of the family and always looked at it as having an extra set of parents. That’s why I always called him Dad.
I will miss him but will always have the great memories. Thanks Dad.

Chris and I send our deepest sympathy to Mrs. Brackett, Cathy, Linda, Donna, Mike, Timmy and grandkids. We have many, many happy memories of fun times spent at his home on Herald Street. Mr. Brackett was a true gentleman. He gave us sage advice when we were buying our first home and was always willing to listen and help us with his years of banking experience. His door was always open and spending time with him and the rest of the Bracketts always felt like being with family. We are better people having known him. Rest In Peace, Mr. Brackett.

From the first time I met him in October 2011, he was always a very welcoming and personable figure. I am honored and privileged to have known him. He may not have been my uncle by blood, but I do not think that matters. What matters is that he made me feel like family when we were together. He will always be Uncle Fredo to me. I will miss him dearly. May God bless him and his lovely family.

Many fond memories of Uncle Fred. He was always so cheerful and happy to be amongst family. Never forget charades at my parents (one of us has the video) and Kayla will remember him trying to snack on her plastic pancakes. Great guy who will be missed
