Obituary of Lisa Ann Sorlie
Lisa Ann Sorlie passed away suddenly on February 7, 2021. Lisa was born on February 14th, 1961 to Gloria and Finn Sorlie in Brooklyn, NY and they moved to Shelton, CT in 1995. She was a proud teacher and reading specialist who was passionate about bringing education to students everywhere. Lisa loved photography, wrote beautiful poetry, and kept her entire family updated on the news. She was an active member and beloved resident of Wesley Village and did a masterful job of coordinating the community’s newsletter for years. Lisa lived with bi-polar disorder and became a strong advocate for mental health. She reached out to people who experienced mental health issues to offer support and friendship. Lisa showed kindness to everyone who crossed her path and always tried to remain optimistic, finding laughs when life threw her challenges. Her family will forever miss those laughs, especially around the Christmas Eve dinner table.
She was preceded in death by her loving mother and father Gloria and Finn, and her sister-in-law Karen. She is survived by her brother John Sorlie, her sister Linda Ferraro and brother-in-law Richard. Lisa was a devoted and caring aunt to Michele and Seth, John and Stacie, Eric and Cris, Beth and Albert, Richard, and Chris and Jessica as well as a great-aunt to AJ, Rebecca, Sarah, Emily, Isabel, Johnny, and Grace.
Friends are welcome to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane, Shelton on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 9:30 am. She will then be buried at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY with her parents. Remember, masks and social distancing are required to attend the Mass and Cemetery.
