My sincere sympathy to Lorraine’s family. Lorraine and I were childhood friends, attending Franklin School together. I remember their home on Soundview Avenue, her wonderful mother and dad and their kindness to me as a child.They were all wonderful people. May she Rest In Peace.

Back in 1991, I was new to Bridgeport Hospital’s OR as an RN. Lorraine was one of the few RNs there who was nice to me and very understanding. I am so sorry to learn of her passing. My prayers and condolences to her family.

In your sorrow, please try to remember that your mother lives on in you. The poem below gave me great comfort when my father passed away. May it comfort you as well.
I Am Standing Upon The Seashore
I am standing upon the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads her white
sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until at length
she hangs like a speck of white cloud
just where the sea and sky come
to mingle with each other.
Then, someone at my side says;
"There, she is gone!"
"Gone where?"
Gone from my sight. That is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull
and spar as she was when she left my side
and she is just as able to bear her
load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her.
And just at the moment when someone
at my side says, "There, she is gone!"
There are other eyes watching her coming,
and other voices ready to take up the glad shout;
"Here she comes!"
And that is dying.

She was content and loved her views of Long Island Sound as well as the Housatonic River. She so loved her family and her friends. I always admired her independent and curious spirit. Rest in peace, Aunt Lorraine.
