Barbara and I reconnected at our 50 Years Reunion from St. Joe’s. We sat and chatted about the many classes and about our teachers. Our conversation meandered to the present. We were so surprised to find out that we both were employed by UB. Barbara and I continued to find common ground and laughed about how we didn’t change at all. Her genuine spirit and concern for others exuded throughout our chat. Barbara’s love impacted many by her Christian example .... truly touched by an angel. My prayers and the thoughts are with her family.

Some of my dearest memories at UB involve Barbara—a trip to Pittsburgh, where we worked on an assessment project, and rode the incline and laughed and ate ice cream while overlooking the city; a trip to New Hampshire, along with Valerie, where we got lost and ended up in Maine; our countless collaborations on accreditation reports, which always benefited from her studious command of data and her careful eyes. She loved to act tough (and she indeed was ferocious for her principles) but her heart was capacious, her laughter was real and easy going, and her work was motivated by purpose. I will miss her.

Growing up, I received a greeting card for every holiday with a dollar in it. They were always signed by a mysteriously unknown holiday mascot, but they always knew me. They knew If I had good grades or if I lost a tooth or whatever. Because they were all Barbie. She made sure to always send me a little note to know she cared. I will miss her! I want to extend my heartfelt sympathies her friends and family for their loss. She was an amazing person.
