Obituary of Margaret A. Kerpchar

Margaret Ann Dirgo Kerpchar, age 90, of Bridgeport, CT, beloved wife of the late Michael Kerpchar passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport on July 24, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Susan Hudak Dirgo. Throughout her younger years she was a member of St. John's Church Choir. She took great pride in embracing her heritage, always singing and speaking in the Slovak language. Her parents owned the Dirgo Grocery Store on Boston Avenue in Bridgeport, CT, where she enjoyed every moment working there, and especially having a real Coca-Cola and a bag of chips. She shared countless stories of her memories there. At age 17 she married the love of her life Michael. They grew, they built, they laughed, and they loved for eternity. Their parties were legendary, they would last 2 days! You could count on 3 things: good food, good drink and lots of fun. She was an excellent cook. Nobody can make her chicken soup homemade like hers. She had a strong love for animals. Music was a big part of her life, loved dancing the polka, but above all, laughing and her kind heart made her the sweetest woman you could ever meet. She would dress up for Halloween with tricks and pranks – scare the crap out of you! Her family was her whole heart and soul. She was the best mother in the whole wide world. Also the best grandmother and great grandmother in the universe. She had a golden heart, always there with a helping hand and gave great advice. She smiled all the time, never complained and enjoyed every moment of life. Sandra was a devoted caretaker to her mother and also Jacquelyn was a devoted caregiver to her grandmother. She was an exceptional person, one of a kind, we could go on endlessly about her. She is missed tremendously. She is and always will be the queen, the matriarch of the family. Survivors include three children, Sandra Fabula (Nate Hardy), Thomas Kerpchar (Darlene) and Patricia Gardner (Alan), a brother, Andrew Dirgo (Betty), a sister, Susie Rivard (Paul), three grandchildren, Tara Paternoster (Sean), Jacquelyn Aulisio, and Angelina Aulisio, and six great-grandchildren, Rachael, Nicky, Kayla, Vanessa, Cashmere and Shailyn, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, John, George and Thomas Dirgo, and sisters, Mary Dirgo and Helen Perschy. Due to the concerns about social gatherings affecting us all at this time, funeral and interment services will be held privately for the immediate family.
