Obituary of Carroll F. McGrath

Carroll F. McGrath, age 88, of Shelton, beloved husband of the late Virginia Taulty McGrath, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Masonicare of Wallingford. Born in Bridgeport on April 2, 1931, he was a son of the late James and Millicent Cavanaugh McGrath and was a longtime resident of Shelton.

Mr. McGrath began working at the Bridgeport Post before starting his career in banking and retiring as a branch manager with the former Mechanics & Farmers Savings Bank. After his retirement he worked at the Bargain News, enjoyed golfing and volunteered at Griffin Hospital.

Survivors include two loving children, Kevin McGrath and his wife Margaret of Shelton and Kimberly Gustafson and her husband Marc of Derby and a sister, Sr. Ellen McGrath, R.D.C. with the Sisters of Divine Compassion as well as four cherished grandchildren, Kira White, Eric Gustafson and Rose & James McGrath and a great grandson, Benjamin White.

Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private. Arrangements in care of The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
