Very sad to hear that we lost a great one! Stag lives on in our memories.
Stag lived in the room next door to me for most of 2 years in Augsburg, so there were shenanigans... But I've thought more about his coaching of the Cooder Commandos (basketball) for two years than any of the insanity. I learned a little from Stag at the time, and a lot more while contemplating those years, since.
Sincerest condolences to his family, and friends - he'll be missed.
David

The picture that’s attached to the memorial page I took of John on Block Island. He joined us there every July. We’d fish, clam, dinner at the Oar and just enjoyed ever beautiful day. He came on many of our family trips to the Florida Keys again we fished everyday. He joined us for Thanksgiving Day for many years. He was part of our family. My daughters when toddlers couldn’t say Castagna so Snagna it was and it stayed. Our hearts are broken. He truly was one of a kind. Many laughs and such good times. We will miss all of his Johnny Sirachi’s FB videos. My family gathered around when we sadly got the message from Vinny that he had passed and watched some of the videos. We laughed and cried and shared all of our wonderful memories of Snagna. We love you and will truly miss you. You will be forever etched in our hearts. RIP my friend. As always when you‘d leave I said I love you Snagna . And you would say love you more babe. Good Bye Snagna

I would like to send my condolences to all John's family and loved ones. I was lucky enough to have just met John this past Thanksgiving at a family dinner. He greeted me with a warm hug. Later over a glass of wine he shared some wonderful recipes with me which will now be made and enjoyed in his honor. Most importantly he made me laugh what a wonderful gift to give, laughter. My memory of him will always be, that of a kind and caring man.

It’s hard to put into words how anyone could feel with such a loss at such a young age. Opening day of fishing season will never be the same. So many laughs, never a dull moment. Always happy and just a plain old fun guy to be around. John you will be missed by all the peoples lives you’ve touched. Just like our fishing trips I wish we had, “just one more cast before we go”. Gonna miss ya. Rest In Peace my friend.

I met John at a couple of the Augsburg 2nd Ops Reunions with my husband, John. He was funny and kind and very sweet to this non-Army gal, I was welcomed in as part of the group. My heart breaks for his family and those of his friends who really knew him best. He will be missed at the next reunion that John and I are hosting in Tucson, but we'll drink a special toast to him. God speed John!

Words escape me as I sit here trying to express my thoughts for a man, who, as we all know, meant so much to so many. Stag was a "giant" of a man. He made such a huge impression on everyone who knew him. I served with John during Army AIT in Pensacola and reconnected with him a few years ago through Facebook. He shared his cooking tips and most recently a very special offer for help if I needed it, but that's how he was. He shared his gusto for life with everyone who knew him. To say he will be missed is an understatement.
Rest easy, Stag. You'll be watching over us all.

Fun-loving and Kind are the words that come to mind when I think of Stag, as we in his Augsburg US Army group called him. He was loved by our group, and he will be greatly missed.
Blessings to family and friends as we all have the fellow feeling of the great sadness of his loss in our lives.
