John Thomas posted a condolence

So sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I flew with Jim many times starting when I was a new AA Flight Engineer on the B-727. Years later, he was the Check Airman when I first upgraded to Capt. Easy going and always a pleasure to fly with. We were also partners in a Stearman based at Waterbury Oxford Airport in Ct. Again, he checked me out in the airplane when I first joined the group and who better to have as an instructor what with Jim's extensive experience in Stearmans as a former crop duster pilot. Sincere condolences to Jim's wife and family.
John Thomas, AA Capt. Ret.

Lorrie and Amy,
We are so sad for your loss of Jim. We have fond memories of him during the years when Amy and Julie were young grade schoolers. Our prayers accompany this message.

We lost a really good guy! Jim and I go all the way back to the Boeing 707 (yeah, the year was probably 1967 or 68). I was a new guy on the seven-oh, right seat while Jim was a new guy in the back seat as the FE. We flew together quite often and always managed to have fun doing the job we loved. He will be missed by all who knew him. God Bless and RIP Jim!

Jim was a member of the Ken Campbell airline golf club. I remember him for his friendly upbeat outlook on life. Not once did I ever see him throw a golf club. We miss him.

Jim was a great guy and one of American Airlines finest. He was always a pleasure to fly with and great to see at our monthly Grey Eagles luncheons. He will be sorely missed by all. My deepest sympathies to his family. Know that you will be in our thoughts and prayers. Capt. Pete Jeffrey, AA, ret.
