Obituary of Joseph R. Carter
Joseph R. Carter, age 97, of Stamford, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Stamford Hospital. Joe was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Josephine Dominguez Carter. Born in Edmundston, Canada on June 12, 1921, and raised in Maine, he was a son of the late George and Rose Violette Carter and was a longtime resident of Trumbull before moving to Stamford. Joseph enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was proud to serve his country in World War II and before his retirement he was a foreman with the Bassick Co. of Bridgeport and a movie projectionist at the Stratford Theater. Joe enjoyed building bird houses and doing crossword puzzles but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He loved to wear his farmer jeans and had a laugh that was so enjoyed by everyone. He said the rosary and prayed every evening. He is loved and respected by many. Jo-Ann is so grateful to the Long Ridge Post Acute Care Nursing Home and the Stamford Hospital medical team for their wonderful and compassionate care of Big Joe. May God Bless you and hold you Pop.
