Obituary of Edward J. Mischik
Edward Joseph Mischik, age 102, of Trumbull since 1951 passed away peacefully on June 17, 2018 at Bishop Wicke Health Center in Shelton. He was the beloved husband of the late Elsie Myer Mischik. Born in Bridgeport on November 28, 1915, he was the son of the late Stephen C. and Mary Zrifka Mischik.
Ed graduated from Harding High School in 1933 before serving in WWII with the 115th Regiment on the 29th Infantry Division, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. Upon his return from active duty, Ed was employed by Singer Manufacturing for 38 years. He joined the Trumbull School System and retired in 1981 from Booth Hill School as the Head Custodian. He served as an usher at St. Theresa Church and also was an active member of the Trumbull Senior Center. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife and parents, Ed was also predeceased by his brother, Emil Mischik. He is survived by his loving daughters, Joan Shamatovich and her husband Tom of Oxford and Barbara Mischik of Bridgeport, his cherished granddaughters, Donna Iaffaldano and her husband Joe of Milford and Janet Buglione of Shelton, five adored great grandchildren, Jack and Luke Iaffaldano and Emma, Sara and Melanie Buglione as well as several nieces.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
