Obituary of Raymond S. Hahn
Raymond S. Hahn, age 60, of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 14, 2018 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Justine Dunn Hahn. Born in Bridgeport on December 8, 1957, he was the son of F. Paul Hahn (and partner, Marion Newbold) of Vero Beach, FL and the late Edith Miller Hahn. Ray was a police officer for the Town of Trumbull with over 31 years of dedicated service beginning in 1986. Early in his career, Ray worked as the department’s only canine handler at the time for approximately 5 years. He was also an active member of the police department’s Dive Team. He received numerous letters of thanks from residents, as well as earning many commendations during his policing career, several with his K-9 partner “Thunder.” One particular honor Ray received was the prestigious American Red Cross Law Enforcement Life Saving Award. Prior to joining the Police Department, he worked as an assistant chef at a local business, having graduated from the Culinary Arts Program at Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI.
Ray’s dedication to serving his community began in 1974 when he joined the Trumbull Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter. He served there for 13 years and attained the rank of Captain before being hired as a police officer. His volunteer career also included a 3 year term with the Trumbull Emergency Medical Service.
Ray was known to his friends and colleagues as a kind and generous person, who was easygoing and personable. A loving and devoted son, husband, brother, uncle, and friend, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his father and beloved wife Justine of 28 years, other survivors include his brothers, Robert Hahn and his wife Debbie of Newark, NY, and Richard Hahn and his wife Gail of Trumbull, CT, his brothers-in-law, Thomas Dunn and his wife Kristin of Newington, CT and J. William Dunn and his wife Karen of Darien, CT. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Michelle, Laura, Brian, Shannon, Megan, Kelly, Michael, Tracy, Phanessa, Robert Jr., and Rebecca as well as many great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 466 Elm St., Monroe. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
