Obituary of Leonor Ferreira Dias

Leonor Ferreira Dias, age 99, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Jose Joaquim Dias, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 14, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 7, 1919 in New Bedford, MA, she was a daughter of the late Jose Ferreira and Etelvina Abreu Ferreira. A hard-working woman, Leonor enjoyed the simple things in life. She enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with her family. She was a dedicated wife and mother; the love and values that she taught will continue to live on in their hearts forever. She will be truly missed by all. Survivors include two loving children, a daughter, Lina Dias and a son, Dinis Dias both of Bridgeport, a sister, Flavia Barrigas of Portugal, a special nephew, Delmar Vinhais and his wife Debra of Stratford, a dear niece, Fernanda Moutinho, who was by her side and her children's side always, as well as many additional nieces and nephews in the United States, Europe and South America. She was predeceased by a brother, Francisco Ferreira and a sister Maria Ferreira Vinhais. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to her caregiver Jessie Ortiz and the nurses and staff of UniCare for the professional care shown to Leonor. Funeral services will take place on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday from 5 – 7 p.m.
