Obituary of David W. Wheeler
David W. Wheeler, age 72, of Trumbull, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Diane Shamas Wheeler. Born in Bridgeport on November 30, 1945, he was a son of Madeline Nobile Wheeler of Bridgeport and the late W. Curtis Wheeler, and was a Trumbull resident for 41 years. David proudly served in the U.S Army during the Vietnam War, to protect the ideals we hold dearly as Americans. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the CT Veteran's Wartime Service Medal and a Certificate of Appreciation from the Disabled American Veterans. Before his retirement, he owned and operated Wheeler's Wall Covering.
In addition to his beloved wife Diane of 48 years, survivors include his daughter, Beth Maldonado and her husband Drew of Stratford, his brother, William Wheeler of Stratford, two grandchildren, Arielle and Andrew (AJ) and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, May, 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment with military honors will follow in Nicholas Village Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
