Obituary of Audrey G. M. Gilbertie

Audrey Gladys Mary Gilbertie, 92 of Trumbull formally of Westport, CT went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at home with her loving family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Alexander (Babe) Gilbertie. She was born on July 18, 1925 at home in Spruce Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada to William and Dorothy Reeve. She moved to Westport and worked as a nurse in mental health before marrying Babe.

Survivors include her daughter Monica Tucker and her husband Jim of Trumbull, her son Ken and his wife Debbie of Fairfield, eight grandchildren, Geoffrey Greve and his wife Outi of Swansea, MA, Todd DeVrieze and his wife Melissa of Mt. Laurel, NJ., Leah Hannibal and her husband Dave of Trumbull, Ryan, Sam and Anna Tucker also of Trumbull, Marrisa Gilbertie of Stamford and Arianna Gilbertie of Fairfield. Two great-grandsons: John Conte & Michael DeVrieze of Mt. Laurel as well as her dearly loved nieces, Ellen Reeve Suter of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Karen Roche of Fairfield and Debbie Gianelli of Westport. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her brother Walter of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, her son Samuel & grandson Gregory Gilbertie-Williams.

Her family and loved ones will forever stay warm under the many afghans and sweaters she knitted and crocheted. They will miss her pumpkin and apple pies at Thanksgiving and cherish the many creations she made with needlepoint, counted cross stich and crewel.

The family would like to thank the many people who cared for Audrey in recent months, especially, Dr. Anthony Arslan, Linda Kale, RN and Brenda Renzulli APRN of the Bridgeport Center for Geriatrics. Also the VITAS Hospice Services, her much loved Danielle Gonzales, RN, Kiana Gaddy, RN and her loving and caring aides, Teresa Kolk and Ursula Chime.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Calvary Evangelical Free Church 498 White Plains Rd, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home 419 White Plains Rd. Trumbull. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
