Obituary of Denis Fortin
Denis Fortin, age 78, of Easton, beloved husband of Virginia O'Brien Fortin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 27 2017 at Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born on November, 30, 1938 in Cromwell, he was a son of the late Henry and Genevieve Hofmann Fortin.
Upon returning from his service in U.S. Army, Denis began his career in the Tool and Die industry. A man of hard work and dedication, he started working at Preferred Tool & Die in 1964, and eventually took over ownership in 1983. With hard work and the assistance of his family, the business is still successful today. A true enthusiast and entrepreneur in the business world, he enjoyed the challenge of the financial markets and always strived for success. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a lifetime member of the Mongaup Game Preserve in NY, the Newtown Fish & Game club, and a volunteer with the Easton Fire Department. Denis was a true family man, the unconditional love, care and values that he taught them will live on in their hearts forever. He cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend who will be truly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his beloved wife Virginia of 54 years, he is survived by his four loving children, Beth Fortin of Shelton, Janine Sadoski and her husband Mitchell of Glastonbury, Michael Fortin of Shelton, and Wayne Fortin and his wife Dilcia of Shelton; 10 cherished grandchildren, Catherine, Thomas, Kevin, Dean, Lily, Catherine, Jack, Luke, Mathew, and Ryan; one adored great grandchild Sawyer; his siblings Leslie Fortin of FL and Juliet Domack of Shelton; as well as several nieces and nephews and friends. In addition to his parents he his predeceased by his brother Phillip Fortin.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Notre Dame of Easton Church, 655 Morehouse Road, Easton, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Lawn Cemetery, Shelton. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Bridgeport Hospital Foundation, 267 Grant Street, Bridgeport, CT 06610.
