Obituary of Joseph Roger Roy

Joseph Roger Roy, age 76, of Shelton, beloved husband of Marie Donofri Roy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Swanton, VT on March 5, 1941, he was a son of the late Conrad Roger and Mary LeDuc Roy and grew up in Milford before moving to Shelton. Joseph was a United States Navy Veteran and served aboard the USS Forrestal. After the service he worked for the John Hancock Life Insurance Co. for many years and retired as a District Manager. He enjoyed vacationing throughout the U.S., especially out west with his dearest friends, Jerry and Joann Becker. Joseph also enjoyed going to Shelton High School football games and was proud to watch his son coach. But above all else, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He treasured time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his beloved wife of 50 years, Marie, survivors include his two loving children, Jeffrey Roy and his wife Kim of Shelton and Michelle Saxton and her husband Sean of Derby, cherished twin grandsons, Luke and Brady Roy, who were the love of his life; a brother, Richard Roy and his wife Marlene and a niece, Kathy Roy Sosa. He was predeceased by a nephew, Richard (Ricky) Roy. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. directly at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton, Ave., Shelton. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
