Obituary of Adelaide Barroso

Adelaide Barroso, age 91, of Shelton passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at her residence, where she lived with her grandchildren, Vera Barroso, Diana Santos, Jessica Cipriano and Kalie and Carly Cipriano. She was the beloved wife of the late Joao Dias. Born in Arcos, Montelegre, Portugal on April 17, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Joaquim Barroso Martins and Cristina Raphael. After arriving in the U.S. in 1992, she spent 28 years residing in Bridgeport where she took a very active role in the raising and care for her beloved grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Manuel Barroso Martins and his wife Eliza of France, Palmeira Martins of Portugal, Cristina Barroso Martins and her husband Licinio Goncalves of France, Antonia Barroso Bernardo and her husband Antonio of France and Isabel Barroso Dias and her husband Pedro Cipriano of Shelton. She is also survived by twenty four grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
